April Meeting
Our featured speaker this month is Gary L. Maddux Jr. '90. Gary and his wife Nancy (’89) have four chidren: Tiana ’14, Kaylee ’16, Madison ’18, and Garret ’21. After a career that included the Marine Corps and 30+ years in helicopter aviation Gary began a new life journey and ministry as a counselor after losing his second daughter Kaylee to suicide in April of 2019.
Gary received his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University and serves as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Associate under the supervision of Doctor Marianne DuMond, LPC-S. Gary has a special place in his heart for our military veterans, first responders, mental health/medical professionals, and educators. He considers it an honor to serve the men and women who put their lives on the line and give so much of themselves to all of us. Gary is also extremely passionate and focused on suicide prevention and postvention in the local community and enjoys speaking about these topics to anyone who will listen. Gary currently serves on the board of Touched by Suicide (a local DFW non-profit in the postvention arena), leads a suicide loss survivor support group in Southlake, and volunteers as a mental health professional and loss survivor with the Denton County LOSS (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) Team. Gary is a proud member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1990 and was a member of the Corps of Cadets as an S-2 Marauder and N-1 Neanderthal.
Dinner/social time begins at 6:30 PM, followed by the meeting at 7:00.
