Howdy! Welcome to the Northeast Tarrant County Aggie Mom’s Club!

My name is Jennifer Hamlin. I’m the President of the Northeast Tarrant County Aggie
Moms' Club. For those of you who have freshmen, or maybe a transfer student, you
might be wondering, “What’s with the Howdy thing?” Great question! Please let me
explain. Your son or daughter is about to enter Aggieland, the friendliest college
campus in the world. By the way, Aggies are cocky, but they've earned it! Your kids
learning to respond with a “Howdy!” is the first connection they will make with the other
65,000 Aggies on campus plus the hundreds of thousands of Aggies worldwide.

So why join a group, specifically this group? Let me answer that with a question. Why
does anyone join a group? Because they have something important that connects them
with the existing members of that group. In the case of the NETC Aggie Moms Club,
all of us have a student that attends one of the many Aggie campuses. They are going
to be learning the traditions that have molded generations of Aggies. This group can
help you to understand what others would call "bizarre" traditions, like standing for an
entire football game (except during the opposing team’s band performance at halftime),

or a 21-gun salute to honor a fallen Aggie at Silver Taps. These kinds of traditions go
back one-hundred and fifty years and are the backbone of Aggie pride. You will become
a part of the Aggie family, and we will be there for you during the highs and the lows
not only with your student, but with the rest of your family life.

I could mention the scholarships we give, the goodie bags we distribute to

your kids right before fall and spring finals, or the Aggie Moms' Boutique during Family

Weekend for those who like to shop Aggie style. But if that isn’t convincing, how about a

planned planned getaway with new friends for a few hours a month (which forces your

husband to have to wrangle the kids, feed the dog, and clean the dishes)….yeah, that’s

a good one.

My friends and I are so excited to meet all the new moms, weather you have a fish,
sophomore, junior, senior, grad student, or a graduate. All Aggie moms are welcome!

Whoop! (yeah, we’ll teach you what that means too!)
