 September 2024: Davey Griffith, Meat Sciences

Davey Griffin, Ph.D., is a professor and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service meat science specialist in the Department of Animal Science. Dr. Griffin and two other “brisketeers” host Camp Brisket and Barbecue Summer Camp at Texas A&M. The term “brisketeer” is an unofficial nickname given to the three experts who have spent their careers dedicated to meat science, and the intersection of teaching, research and extension.

 

 October 2024: David Parrish, School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts

David Parrish, director of the School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts at Texas A&M-Fort Worth. A 28-year veteran in visual effects with Industrial Light & Magic, Sony Pictures Imageworks and Reel FX, Professor Parrish has had a diverse career spanning architecture, education, and the entertainment industry. He's worked on films including The Perfect Storm, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom MenaceJurassic Park: The Lost WorldHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s StoneThe Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Polar Express

 

 November 2024: Angela Winkler '95, Student Assistance Services

Angela Winkler ’95, Assistant Director in Student Life at Texas A&M, director of Student Assistance Services, a division of Student Affairs. SAS provides support to students with issues including food insecurity, mental health support, death of a loved one, withdrawing and readmission, accident/injury/medical concerns, funding assistance, and other stressful situations. They also work with some special populations – foster care alumni, pregnant and parenting students, and families of current students who pass away. Ms. Winkler works with Traditions Council to oversee Silver Taps.

 

 December 2024: Holiday Party
Catered dinner and White Elephant gift exchange of Aggie-themed holiday ornaments and decor.

 

 January 2025: Singing Cadets Concert
The club worked together to host the celebrated men's chorus from Aggieland at White's Chapel Methodist Church. The Grammy-winning group entertained us and hundreds of others from the community with a variety of patriotic, humorous, and sacred songs.

 

 February 2025: Dr. Debra Zoran

Dr. Zoran is actively involved with clinical, teaching, and research activities in small animal gastroenterology, nutrition and feline medicine.

 

 March 2025: The Big Event

The Big Event has become the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation. Each spring, scores of Aggies at Texas A&M show their appreciation to the residents of Bryan/College Station through one-day service projects. NETC Aggie Moms will host its own Big Event by once again joining forces with Susan Tannerwhose outreach provides care packages to hundreds of active duty soldiers.

 

 April 2025: Gary L. Maddux Jr. ‘90

Gary and his wife Nancy (’89) have four chidren: Tiana ’14, Kaylee ’16, Madison ’18, and Garret ’21. After a career that included the Marine Corps and 30+ years in helicopter aviation Gary began a new life journey and ministry as a counselor after losing his second daughter Kaylee to suicide in April of 2019.  September 2023: John Huser ’89, TAMU Foundation
Vice president and CFO of the Texas A&M Foundation, the university’s largest fundraising entity. Mr. Huser oversees a $2.6 billion endowment which provides support to faculty, student groups, research, construction of buildings, professorships and scholarships. 

 

 October 2023: Sadi Monge, Family Connections Counseling
A founding partner of Family Connections Counseling in Colleyville, talked to us about college transition from a mental health perspective. A current Aggie mom, Ms. Monge she received her bachelor's in Psychology from Texas A&M and her master's in Counseling from UNT. Her intern, Madison Rhodes, will address mental health from a student's perspective. Madison also graduated from A&M with a degree in Psychology and recently earned her master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from SMU.

 

 November 2023: Dr. Kristi Shryock '98 '00 '11, Engineering Honors Program
Director of the Craig & Galen Brown Engineering Honors Program, shared the latest happenings within the College of Engineering. With more than 22,000 students and multiple degree programs, Engineering is the largest “school” on the A&M campus. Dr. Shryock is known by students and faculty as having boundless energy and enthusiasm.

 January 2024: Steven Early '88, attorney
Once our kids turn 18 years old, everything changes legally. Do you and your Aggie have the necessary legal documents in place? Steven Early '88, a Colleyville attorney, helped make sure we are equipped. 
Ian Wiechers '25, Student COO of BUILD and son of NETC Aggie Mom Sheralee Wiechers, shared BUILD's mission to provide Aggies an opportunity to get involved in a great cause. The purpose of BUILD is to carry on the legacy of Bonfire. This past year, BUILD mobilized more than 1,600 student volunteers to convert shipping containers into fully functional medical clinics. Teams served in Corpus Christi, Texas; Chad; Turkey; Nigeria; and Ukraine. buildtamu.com

 

 February 2024: Dr. Likith Reddy, DDS, MD, FACS, TAMU School of Dentistry
A Clinical Professor from the Texas A&M University School of Dentistry in Dallas, Dr. Reddy shared with us about the innovation taking place on their campus. Dr. Reddy is the Department Head for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which includes a center that assists in the reconstruction of acquired and congenital defects of oral and facial deformities--one of three such centers in the United States.

 April 2024: Dr. Dave Keller '07, Hollingsworth Center for Ethical Leadership
The Hollingsworth Center for Ethical Leadership gives cadets in the Corps an opportunity to hone their leadership skills—but did you know that the classes are wide open to general students? We learned more about how the program can give students a “leg up” as they prepare for their careers. Dr. Dave Keller '07, who served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and is director of the Center, provided an overview of the Corps of Cadets and the Hollingsworth Center. Prior to coming to Texas A&M, Dr. Keller completed a 20+ year career in the U.S. Air Force that included directing all cadet character, ethics and leadership programs at the United States Air Force Academy.

 
 May 2024
Final Meeting of the Year. We always end the year with a fun dinner at a local restaurant. Final business includes the announcement of the scholarship winners. This year, we visited Outpost 36 in Keller and celebrated our scholarship winners, May graduates and more.

 September 2022: Andrew Monaco, Voice of the Aggies
Monaco handles play-by-play duties for Aggie football, men's basketball and baseball. The dads came to this meeting!

 

October 2022: Sargent Josh Deleon & Officer Dee Donovan, University Police Department
Information on services offered, campus safety and trends since the pandemic. Texas A&M is one of the largest universities in the nation and the police department is committed to be a world-class model for public safety, whose highest priority is to provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and campus visitors.

 

November 2022: Nancy Welsh, TAMU Law School
Professor Walsh was one of three A&M professors to receive the 2021 University Professorship Award at TAMU and she is the director of the nationally ranked Dispute Resolution program at Texas A&M School of Law. She gave a brief update on the Aggieland North facility in Fort Worth.

 January 2023: Case Harris, TAMU Student Body President
A student's perspective on campus happenings. We invited our Aggies to this meeting.

 

February 2023: Dr. Russell Tipton, Senior Association Director of Bands
Dr. Tipton joined Texas A&M’s Department of Music Activities in the summer of 2016. He is the conductor of the Symphonic Band and is the Senior Associate Director of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. In this role, he serves as a captain in the Texas State Guard. As a performer, Dr. Tipton served as principal tubist in the Symphony of Southeast Texas from 2011-2016.

 

March 2023: The Big Event with Susan Tanner
Our annual Big Event project to pack care packages for overseas troops with a variety of items contributed by our members. Susan has joined us for several years and has been packing troop care packages long before joining us.

 

April 2023: Pascale Parker, TAMU Education Abroad
Did you know that Texas A&M ranks No. 1 in the nation for sending the most students abroad? Pascale joined Texas A&M in 2007 and is part of a busy team that collaborates with colleges, faculty and international partners to provide opportunities for students to study, intern, search and/or volunteer abroad. We learned about this robust program and the opportunities students have to enrich their college learning experience by studying abroad.

 

May 2023 -  La Hacienda Ranch 
We always wrap-up the year with a special dinner. We met at La Hacienda Ranch to celebrate our scholarship winners, graduates and more.
